Elegant self-catering in the North East Highlands of Scotland

Balloan Cottage is a traditional stone cottage built in 1905 by John Murray who was later Provost of Dornoch for many years. He built the cottage for his ageing parents, and made sure that the fireplaces and woodwork were finished to a high standard. These features have been carefully preserved, while recent renovations ensure comfortable modern living. The result is a welcoming and restful holiday base, ideally placed for easy access to the vast range of sights, activities and events that the Town and area has to offer.

Downstairs the cottage has a sitting room, dining room, kitchen, laundry and shower room. The sitting room has two roomy sofas, a fireplace, TV with DVD player, and coffee table. The separate dining room is furnished with a table which can be expanded, 8 chairs and sideboard. The shower room downstairs has a shower, WC and basin.

Upstairs two bedrooms (one has a kingsize bed and the other twin beds) and a full bathroom with over-bath shower, WC and basin.

Indoors the cottage is equipped with TV, Broadband WiFi and oil-fired central heating. A supply of wood and kindling is provided. The renovated kitchen has a stove, dishwasher, microwave, toaster, small TV and fridge/freezer. The laundry houses the boiler, washing machine and dryer.

Outside furniture and a BBQ are provided for sunny summer days. The cottage has a southern aspect and looks onto a lawned garden with flower beds and hedges. To one side there is a kitchen garden for the use of residents. Beyond the garden is an area of planted native woodland.

Prices include: All linen, towels & utilities. It also includes free Wi Fi.

Dogs/Pets: Balloan Cottage are happy to welcome your well behaved pet. The cost of their stay will be £30 per dog per week. Or £5 per dog per day.

There is also a good housekeeping deposit of £50. (payable with your final payment). This is fully refundable within 7 days of leaving the property, provided that the property and its contents are in the condition you in which you found them and that all the conditions below have been met.

Conditions:
1) Dogs (pets) are not allowed in the bedroom, on beds or on furniture.
2) All dog (pet) waste in or around the property must be cleared and disposed of responsibly.
3) Any damage caused by your dog (pet) must be reported to the agent.
